We lined up all the shoes by size and set up stations for each team member. Team members that weren’t at one of those stations became a runner to get the right shoe size for the person fitting. Before we could start distributing shoes to the school children we had to get things organized. And I, of course, was all for that!

One of the team members found a long rope that could be used to play jump rope with some of the kids that live at the HOM and ended up with quite the crowd. John continued to fill us in on the culture and told us that he likes telling Haitians about how we treat our dogs. “Dog houses?&# they laugh, and think we are crazy.

One of the team members brought out the guitar and the kids, all of which could speak very little English, could sing praise and worship songs completely in English! I visited with the older children for a bit and handed out some beanie babies that I brought. The older kids enjoyed playing jump rope, blowing bubbles and loved stickers!
