How do you stay organized?

If I was an employer, I would want to ask this question of any admin who was applying at my organization. Since it is almost second nature to most admins to be organized it is sometimes difficult to answer, but it is just for this reason that it needs to be asked. I then go through my emails and prioritize what is urgent for the day.

It's not magic, although I find the better you organize the more people think it was easy and seem to think it just all happened , which is the furthest thing from the truth. It should get easier though -- or should I say, when it is better organized, you will be more prepared and therefore more confident that you have not missed anything.

You definitely need to be organized! Each time I organize an event I learn something.

I cannot stand clutter so to me it is very important to keep myself organized. I need to be organized so I can think and function better. I'm either organizing a meeting or responding to someone else about my boss's availability. When starting the meeting sheet, it is important that I know whether I am organizing the meeting or responding to it. So I document that as well. For each meeting or event, I create what I call a meeting sheet.

Sometimes it takes time to build the reputation of the Administrative Team. The last place I worked was very progressive in that way and looked to the Admin Team as professionals in our field.
