In the five days being there though, I learned so much more. I provide people with resources to be able to give their excess stuff a new place to live. A simple pair of our excess shoes can give someone in a place like Haiti a new opportunity. The overall question that we kept asking was… what else can we do? Where do we start?

But they are learning. We learned from John, the Soles4Souls liaison in Haiti, that shoes are like a status symbol. I wondered what these children have seen and the heartache they already knew. I am making sure my kids know what it is like outside of their safe walls, because this does not stop with me or my kids.

It was a surprisingly quaint little restaurant and we had a great time talking and learning more about each other. Over the next dew days I will be sharing my story and a few lessons I learned along the way… On the final leg of the flight to Haiti the realization of what I was about to do really started to sink in. For 5 days I was surrounded by wonderful people and made great new friends.

I learned that most of the babies in the orphanage were there because the parents lost homes in the earthquake. I fell in love with his smile. Stanley was also very alert and looking around for someone when I took him out. He stuck his arm out at his buddy Jamesly so we went to him and they started to play.
