I had an interview at 11, but I was busy with my job, my father was in the hospital and I was trying to arrange an engagement party for my daughter. I finally decided that they would just have to take me as I was because I didn't have the time to do everything I knew I should be doing to prepare for this interview. It will be noticed.

I don't remember my first interview, although I do remember my first job and my first paycheque. I was a junior secretary at a large bank and my salary was $137 every two weeks. In the late 70s and early 80s, jobs were plentiful and I never considered when I went on an interview that I wouldn't get the job.

I am in the process of developing testing for admin interviews and I really enjoyed doing that. Other things you need to evaluate as well is the salary, career advancement, company benefits, etc., For instance I really like organizing things and have a little jump to my step whenever I start the planning process for an event.

Someone asked me the other day what my salary was. Years ago we were taught never to reveal our salary. I was so excited about getting a steady salary that I wrote the amount in my calendar on each payday. I think it is to the employer's benefit that we don't discuss salary. I was taken aback. That is my own business.
