Bloomberg's Inside Google's Shadow Workforce covers the use by Google of what they call TVCs, or “temps, vendors and contractors" According to the article about half of Google's workforce is comprised of TVCs. We've recently covered a number of studies confirming this. .

According to one of their recent surveys, small business owners turn to a number of sources for advice and as the chart below shows, accountants are their first choice. We were somewhat fascinated that the survey asked about Google. Surveys have traditionally asked about turning to the Internet for advice.

Google Maps is allowing users to place local delivery orders. And 60% of those surveyed had done so to avoid going out. While currently a relatively small market, it's attracting companies of all sizes and shapes. Groupon is now offering food delivery services. Amazon is offering free food delivery to Prime Customers.

Interesting survey from Google on tablet PC use. Google surveyed over 1400 tablet PC owners and found: 68% of tablet users spend at least 1 hour a day on their tablet. Google doesn't break the data out by device, but one has to assume that the vast majority of respondents owned iPads.
