My boss knows that I will act on his requests and my goal will be that nothing is going to get missed. Of course we are human so mistakes will be made, but even in that we can own up to our mistakes and learn from them and move on. Once they have that confidence you are off to a great start.

Read and learn as much as possible. The goal is to get as self sufficient as soon as possible because this is now your job, but it is always expected there will be questions. There was going to be a lot of new things that I would need to learn, but at least I had done my homework.

I expect from an inexperienced admin that they will need more guidance and I enjoy working with them as they learn, but my goal is always that they will work towards knowing their job and taking it on as their own. Be willing to learn and work hard at knowing your job, especially at the beginning. So what can you do?

Since you will spend so much time around your coworkers, it can be invaluable to learn how to form friendships in the workplace while maintaining a professional environment. If employees are working toward a common goal with people they genuinely like, they will in turn have a shared sense of camaraderie and will be more productive.

My mind seems to go completely blank when it comes to listing my achievements and what goals I want to accomplish. What are Your Goals? Do you have goals that you have set for yourself in your position? I don’t look forward to filling out my performance appraisal form, especially the self evaluation part.

What I have learned as a blogger Blogging about your career is an excellent way to present yourself to a potential employer.
