Top 3 Gmail Productivity Tools

Office Organization Success

As some of you may be aware, I permanently switched from Outlook (having used it for many years) to Gmail at the end of last year. My main reason was because, as I seem to be doing a lot of traveling lately, I wanted to be able to access my email on the go, especially from my laptop as I take it with me when I travel. Making the switch was a big learning curve for me and, initially I got frustrated that I couldn’t do some of the things in Gmail that I used to easily be able to do in Outlook.

4 Ways to Deal With Negativity at Work

On The Job

I once worked with a woman who was so depressing to be around that people literally fast-walked to their offices and slammed the doors to get away from her. We all ate our lunches in our offices behind closed doors, because otherwise we would be subjected to her whining and complaining in the break room. I wish I had been a little smarter about what she was doing to all of us.

Eat Your Career

Happy Love Day!!

Virtual Moxie

So many people I know hate this day, choosing to see it as a made up day that only exists to enforce mass consumerism and overspending. I’ve been told that it’s a sham to have a "Valentine's" day to celebrate love when love should be celebrated all year long. And I get it, I really do. Being TOLD to be loving isn’t appealing. And people who demonstrate love one day/year and no other time aren’t really doing that at all.

Faith Popcorn's Grim View of the Future of Men

Well known trend spotter Faith Popcorn is more than a bit pessimistic about men.  Her most recent What’s Popping forecast is called She-Change , and focuses on the growing role women are playing in the economy and society. Key quote on women: In the coming decade we will see a sea change in the way feminine power is incorporated in society. More interesting is her quite negative view on the future of men: It will be up to women to protect men in this new world order.

The Executive Assistant is Key to Managing Executive's Calendar

Office Dynamics

Two weeks ago, I was presenting a workshop for executives and their executive assistants. One of the executives shared, what I considered, a brilliant idea. He hands out his executive assistant's business card when he has told someome in person that he wants an appointment with them or they requested an appointment with him. Since his executive assistant manages his calendar, he hands the person her business card so this way the other person can easily and quickly contact her.
