4 Ways to Increase Professional Effectiveness

Office Dynamics

I spend a lot of my time in the training room with administrative professionals all over the country, I am often taken by the words of wisdom that are shared by the savvy assistants in my classes. In fact, I was struck by the words of one particular assistant who seemed savvy beyond her years. She was a reminder to me – and to us all – that wisdom in the best companies and organizations resides in the support staff as much as, if not more than, members of the management team !

On Friday 26th February we held our second Assist Conference and what a day we had! With a few days to spare we sold out which meant we had just over 100 assistants attending the conference. As I said in my opening presentation – I was hoping for 100 assistants to come along but I never quite expected it to happen! Looking out at all of the different faces, some familiar and others completely new, I felt pretty overwhelmed.

How to Banish Procrastination, Wasting Time, and Crappy Productivity (Not to Mention Drama and Guilt!)

Virtual Moxie

A good one, this! Maquisha, a new VA, wrote to ask: "Some days I feel like I get nothing done! It’s so wasteful. I start the day with a plan, and somewhere, I find something else that catches my attention and I do that, instead, procrastinating on everything else and blowing up my whole day. And when I get to the end, I have more thoughts in my head than I started with, but nothing to SHOW for the time I sat there.

But when your boss tells you a lie, it’s a whole different ball game.

My search for the best kitchen knife

Professional Assistant Blog

I have recently taken up a part time catering course at my local adult college. I love cooking and preparing meals for my kids. I even encourage them to help me in preparing the vegetables and making the family stews. Now that they are that little bit older, I have a little extra time to myself and so therefore I thought that enrolling in a cookery course would be a fabulous idea to learn more recipes and how to prepare food correctly.

Make a List

by I love lists. I have a poor memory so I make lots of lists to help myself get things done that I'd forget otherwise. One list I consult before I do laundry. It's a list of items that don't get washed very often and that I want to keep using until the next washing, such as kitchen potholders and the bathmat. Another list is for things I've loaned to people.

Multitasking vs. Creativity
