Only 58% of Employers Think Employees are More Loyal Than Freelancers

We were very surprised by the results from  a recent survey  on contingent work done by a group consisting of the Aspen Institute’s Future of Work Initiative, the Markle Foundation, Burson-Marsteller and TIME Magazine. They surveyed employers and found that only 58% think their employees are more loyal than their contingent workers.

Mattel Brings Back the ThingMaker as a 3D Printer

Way back in the early 1960s Mattel released a product call ThingMaker. Kids used the ThingMaker to make creepy crawlers, which were squishy, plastic bugs. Youtube has  a 1964 Mattel Creepy Crawler TV commercia l, which nicely describes the product and provides a nostalgic look at life in the 1960s.  Let's face it, ThingMaker is a great name for a 3D printer.

Satisfaction With Traditional Jobs at 10 Year High - Still Well Below Independent Worker Satisfaction Levels

The Wall Street Journal's Job Satisfaction Hits a 10-Year High—But It’s Still Below 50%  covers the results from The Conference Board's annual job satisfaction survey.  As the chart on the left below from the WSJ article shows, just under half (49.6%) of U.S. workers surveyed reported they are satisfied with their jobs. While lower by quite a bit than the 60%+ levels in the 1980s, satisfaction is at a 10 year high and well above its low of just over 40% in 2010.
