The writer has certainly made it seem like a great place to work for any administrative assistant and they definitely seem to understand the role we can play in the office. I have to give this person points for an interesting and appealing job posting that he called "Master-of-everything-administrative-assistant".

I have since learned it is a little bit more than I initially thought, but knowing the basics definitely helped and was the start of getting over the fear so I could then start to learn. My definition of a successful event is when it goes smoothly without a hitch. It's not magic, although I find the better you organize the more people think it was easy and seem to think it just all happened , which is the furthest thing from the truth. Or if there is a glitch, it is fixed quickly and professionally.

He has pointed out that we say "Yepper" as a definitive way of saying "yes". My son-in-law is from Newfoundland, Canada. Newfoundlanders are known for their slang language, but he is noticing our Ottawa Valley slang. We say "give er" and "get er done" when encouraging someone to do a good job or finish a task.

In Wikipedia’s definition they give some of the metadata risks, which I think is an important aspect as it pertains to the assistant. I definitely will be asking my IT Department for more information on what I can do to protect myself and my organization. Including information your company may not want someone else to see.

I am definitely going to check this place out. My daughter recently told me about some special pyjamas for women in menopause made by HotCoolWear , a Toronto company. They also have clothing you can wear at the office because hot flashes are not reserved just for the night time. I have had it easy compared to some.

Two eyes are definitely better than one and if you work with your boss as a team then the products coming out of your office will look good and that will reflect well on both of you. In my job I read correspondence and other documents before they even go into my boss and he likes it that way.

It was easily rectified as they all had access to their bosses email acount and they all most definitely understood. My damage control was to re-send the message with REVISED in the subject line and then follow up by calling the 25 offices and speaking to the EA to explain the situation.

But times are definitely changing and it will be interesting to see how the future unfolds for the business office and for the assistant. The only problem is, you usually have to organize the conference and still do all your other work and that makes for some pretty hectic days leading up to the event. Start with a good To-Do list. Their definition of typo, however, was not the same as mine. Is it just me or do you immediately cringe and think you did something wrong when your boss mentions there is a typo in a document? I noticed that the other day when someone mentioned to me that there was a typo in a document I was working on.

If I am told that I should have it in the next few weeks, or can expect to receive it in a couple of months, that doesn’t really help me with my follow up as it is not a definite date. I can only guess when I might get it. I would prefer they say you will have it by March 4th. That I can track. Dates are important.

It gives the proper spelling for British, Canadian and American words and is very user friendly. By the way, behaviourial is spelled this way in Canada.

Like you, I list the new assistant as not only a contact but a definite resource for future references. As you previously stated, this is a great way to not only meet new people but you can expand your list of contacts to include the new assistant. I have found this practice to pay off big just when you need it!

I am hooked already and this will definitely go into my Favourites under 411 Look up as well as on speed dial on my cell, home and work phone. I chose details and was given the street address and phone number and I still had the option of having my call put through to the store number. There is a good purpose for them and they are definitely useful in a business setting. In an emergency, the cell phone is a useful tool. If I am waiting for something, I will check it mid-day, but I definitely feel out of the loop if I dont check it at all, so schedule a time and make it a regular part of your day. Find a time that works for you to check your bosss e-mail account. I like to check it first thing in the morning and just before I go home at the end of the day.

Definitely not like the CSI shows of today. In those days it wasn’t a computer where you could see a face on the screen, but the information was printed out on paper and if you wanted a photo, it came in the mail a week later. For fun, one of the officers asked me to put my name and birthdate in to see what came up.

My work/life balance was definitely off balance. Definitely not recommended if you want to be fresh and able to take in all you need to learn in your new job, but I survived.
