Think about a big project you've successfully completed and then walk them through how you accomplished it. A big mistake some employers make is to assume that anyone can do our job.

I think people are over confident with spell check and forget that it can only do so much. I've mentioned this before, but it is true -- proofreading is a lost art. Lists: I was working with someone and we were comparing a list to make sure we had all the right people with their names spelled right, correct title and address.

Give your boss confidence when they ask you to do something by repeating back to them what they have asked you to do. Once you are settled in your new desk, re-introduce yourself to your new boss.

Your new employer is not expecting you to know everything right away and it is in everyones best interest that you proceed cautiously at first until you know the ropes.
