As you gain confidence and take baby steps out on your own, you will see that others will start looking to you for help. Many times the mentor has to also learn to let go and let you fly on your own.

Do this a few times and you will be more confident when you actually go for the interview. What you really want to convey in an interview is confidence: confidence in what you know, confidence that you can do the job, confidence in conveying that information to the interviewers.

I also find we have a role to play to help our bosses have more confidence that the job will be handled appropriately. She can see that I am writing it down and that helps her to have confidence that it won't be forgotten. This will also give them confidence that you understand the task. Never be afraid to ask questions.

I bugged everyone I knew that had ever taken minutes and gained confidence by talking to them. Having confidence and knowledge is half the battle. In our office all the administrative assistants also have to take minutes as well. I'm the type of person that when I want to do something I learn everything there is about it.
