As the chart below shows (click to enlarge), the number of nonemployers has been growing around 2.45% per year since 2010. .  Nonemployers are businesses that have an owner, but don't have paid traditional full or part-time employees (W2 employees). The data comes from tax records.

  Coal generation, as the chart below shows, has been rapidly declining since it's peak year in 2010. They are forecast to continue growing at the pace of the past couple of years (around 20% for solar and 10% for wind).  Simply put, coal is not economically competitive with other sources. are not included in its price.

This means the coworking industry is adding in August alone about 3-4 times the amount of space the entire industry had in 2010.   New coworking spaces, on average, are 4-5 times larger than they were 7-8 years ago. This approach results in a conservative estimate of space openings.

  As the chart below shows, sole proprietor contract labor expenses increased 38% between 2010 and 2013.  In 2013 contract labor was 36% of total labor costs, up from 31% in 2010 and just 20% in 2003.    Over the same period salary and wage expense increased only 10.7%.
