Moxie Tip 180: The Best Email Productivity Tip, EVER!

Virtual Moxie

Don't file your email in folders--it's a huge waste of time. Just archive it, then search when you need to find something. I've been doing this for years --but now, Baydin , the fine folks who created Boomerang for Gmail and Outlook, have a free Revive Your Inbox e-course that teaches this, and so much more about how to really get a grip on being productive with your email.

Hello, Voice. I Recognize You!

Virtual Moxie

At the end of last week, D and I were watching TV and during a commercial break, I went to my office to get my iPad. As I picked it up, I noticed a running water noise. Stepping back out into our hallway, it only took a second to realize it was coming from our Master bath and, having taken two steps into our bedroom and encountering soggy carpet, another nanosecond to realize something was seriously amiss.

Survey Results!

Virtual Moxie

I'm beyond grateful to all of you who took time out of your days to weigh in on the survey about the frequency of the Moxie Tips. Thank you. ?. It's clear (67% to 37%) that you love getting the tips four times each week, and one longer Moxie post--just the way I've been serving it up. So that's what I'll continue to do! For those of you who wanted fewer tips, I hope this decision won't be a huge disappointment!

Moxie Tip 175: Use Your Words

Virtual Moxie

When you first start out, it's helpful to model the language used by industry leaders or other VAs you admire. But if you’ve been in biz for more than a year, you need to find your own voice. Talk about what you do & offer in your OWN way; don't copy. You may think to yourself, "I can't say it better than this VA or that VA does," but you can. If you want to attract clients to yourself, you can't do that with other people's words.

Moxie Tip 174: Know Your Capacity

Virtual Moxie

Your capacity is the place right before you start to lose it. The moment you lose it you’re overcapacity, and that’s a horrid place to be. Know where your "overcapacity" placel is, and stop yourself when you see it coming, *before* you get there. Create a reserve of space between you and your capacity so that you can relax a bit instead of being hyper vigilant about going over.

Make Sure You "Know," Rather Than "Assume"

Virtual Moxie

How many times have you heard a suggestion and immediately cast it aside? Maybe your immediate thought was, “Nah… that won’t work!” But how do you know ? I understand that with experience and expertise comes an often nearly instant recognition of what will and won’t fit the bill, but with that gift often comes the droning of doing the same thing even in areas of life where there is no experience, much less expertise.

Moxie Tip 172: Benefits

Virtual Moxie

Part of what’s covered by your fees are your indirect expenses, which include the benefits you have to provide for yourself. For this reason, it's patently untrue to tell the world that clients don't have to pay for your benefits. The truth is they do--but only a very small part of the total. Have you taken my short, one-question survey about how you like your Moxie Tips?
